Andrew Gazdecki on M&A trends, selling two companies, and rebranding
Product State Q&A
EC: What’s the current state of startup M&A, and how does MicroAcquire facilitate deals?
AG: I'd say the current state of M&A really depends on the deal structure. For venture backed startups we're seeing a lot of acquihires and for bootstrapped startups we're seeing a large uptick in private equity activity.
See here for how MicroAcquire works:
It's completely free to list on MicroAcquire and we have a paid service for SaaS startups over $1m/ARR: https://microacquire.com/managed-by-microacquire/
EC: You’ve sold two companies you started. What does the journey of selling a company feel like - as a founder?
AG: It's a roller coaster. After putting years of blood, sweat, and tears into building a company it can be emotional but the reward makes it all worth it.
Here's a clip of me celebrating on closing day (when the money hits your bank account):
EC: Congrats on the (upcoming) rebranding. What was that process like? (And how’s it going with the Twitter handle acquisition?)
Thanks! There's a lot of work that goes into a rebrand, from design, to SEO, to articulating the change to customers and more importantly, the why.
As for the Twitter handle, we'll see!
